Holly and Dan

November 10, 2008

I have been waiting on this wedding for what seems like years…and I’ve been even more excited to post these photos! So, I finally was able to shoot Holly and Dan’s HUGE wedding extravaganza!

It was nothing less than AMAZING. We had a blast. My hat is off to Holly for pulling this off….it was like a theatrical production! She had the vision and she made it happen.

Holly made each of the outfits and with the help of her fairies and ninjas pulled off some of the craziest make-up and hair I’ve ever seen! The entire day/night was so much fun and was a wedding never to forget. I wish I could go through and post all the photos but here are a few to give you an idea of what a Halloween wedding is supposed to look like! I will post more later!

Ashley and Gene

November 7, 2008

A couple Fridays ago, I shot Ashley and Gene’s classic wedding at St. Albert’s Church in Louisville Kentucky. It was a perfect day outside…just the right temperature for a wedding and we were able to shoot most of the portraits using the natural light outside. Their reception, like most receptions I photograph, was my favorite part though! Held at the gorgeous Olmsted, they had a fall themed cake and UofK grooms cake. Ashley led up the dance floor and got the party started. The bride and groom were by far, one of my beautiful couples and they were a blast to work with. I grabbed these two shots, two of my favorites to share. We shot these out front of the Olmsted in the dark.

The following day, I did senior portraits for the lovely Samantha Franklin. We shot out at my best friend’s farm in Simpsonville. And once again, it was a perfect fall day for shooting!

October and Photo Booths

October 6, 2008

October was quite a month for me…by far, my favorite. I was able to enjoy the brief Autumn in New York and enjoy the few trees that changed their colors as well as spend ample amount of time in Kentucky to enjoy the abundance of beautiful trees there.

I started out the month by celebrating the birthday of one of my closest friends, Amanda. Amanda was the darling who took me under wing when I first moved to New York City and was my first roommate and has basically introduced me to every friend I now have in NY.

Then, I was able to celebrate the tri-fecta of a birthday of my love, Ryan. His birthday should have gone down in history…complete with a home cooked steak dinner, presents for seven days, ghetto limo, friends and drinks, and a surprise party I put together for him! That was my favorite part!

I had the privelege this month of also shooting the long awaited wedding of Ashley and Gene! My good friend Jenny from NY flew home with me to assist and see my beautiful home. Stay tuned for shots from the wedding! I will be posting them tomorrow. Ashley was one of my most beautiful brides and the couple was a pleasure to work with.

While being home for the wedding, I was able to join all my best friends in a trip to Huber’s Farm to pick pumpkins! This is definitly one of my most favorite things to do this time of year. Here’s a tiny thumbnail of us in the pumpkin patch…

This month was also the New York City CMJ festival…which means one whole week of constant music flowing out of every single venue across the island and spilling over into Williamsburg. The week wore Ryan and me out, but we saw some great bands. If you check out his blog, he goes into a great re cap of the week and the overload of new music we heard. In the meantime, check out Shugo Tokumaru. I must add that I also got into a fist fight at one of the shows…for a good cause. My mamma was proud. Ryan and I hopped into a photo booth prior to my beat down…

Then there was Halloween and Holly and Dan’s Halloween Wedding extravaganza! What an event…it even made the news! Ryan got to come home to Kentucky with me this time to help assist and complete our costume of Bonnie and Clyde. (We were precious!) Holly and Dan got married in the breath taking cemetery Cave Hill. I will be posting some CRAZY photos from their wedding day of their zombie groomsmen and the Gothic queen bride. I had a blast shooting this wedding and as a wedding favor to their guests, they set up a photo booth! Ryan and I had too much fun with this! (we love photo booths)

Finally, I must add, although this technically did not take place in the month of October, I was very very proud to be a part of our Presidential Election yesterday. No matter who you voted for, this election has just made history and I must say, has been quite an emotional one for me. I am overwhelmed with hope and excitement to see our country take such a turn and move beyond racial boundaries and open our minds to new beginnings.  I anxiously await what Obama can bring to our Nation. I even actually feel, for the first time in a long long time, proud to be an American.

Holly and Dan…and some Purple/Pink Highlights!

September 9, 2008

Whenever the weather starts to change, I always call up my girl Holly to switch up my hair in preparation for the fall time. Usually, when the weather starts to get a little crisper I always take my normally blonde hair and tone it down to a nice auburn or dark brown…you know…to fit the season. However, a recent turn of events sort of knocked me off my feet bringing my usually sunny mood down to the blues. So I decided to switch things up this year and go bright. Every girl needs to have hot pink and purple hair at some point in their life!

Speaking of Holly…she is the bride of my famous Halloween wedding I have coming up this October! I recieved her invitation today…fit with a scroll and coffin! (which they hand made together!)

Her and Dan will be married at Cave Hill Cemetery in full out costume and then inviting their 400 guests to Mellwood Arts Center for the Halloween Party of the century! Stay tuned for those photos…it’s going to be a riot!

tara and matt

July 17, 2008

One of my most favorite parts of shooting a wedding is the cake…and let me say…my hat goes off to Tara and Matt for their delicious brownie cake!!!

Tara and Matt got married at Shively Baptist in Louisville, KY just a few weeks ago. Not only did they have a cake that was just as beautiful as delicious, Tara picked out the most gorgeous flowers! That is my second favorite part about shooting a wedding…the flowers!! Gerber daisies have always been my number one and Tara mixed those with big yellow sun flowers! I loved them so much, I had to call the boy in my life and describe them to him half way through the wedding day. And he was lovely enough to show up with sunflowers for me the next day….awwwww!

Anyways, Tara and Matt’s wedding was full of little unique touches including a special and, might I add, hilarious, dance by them on their entrance into the reception! They were such a fun couple to be around…so much that I decided to show up and see them off the next morning for their honeymoon at the airport! Hah, no, I’m not that crazy about my couples, but I did in fact, sit down right next to Tara and Matt the next morning while about to board my plane to NYC. It was so random but too funny and I got to show them a sneak preview of some of their wedding photos.

peter and vikki (and reg!)

July 11, 2008

So, Peter and Vikki, two members of my “502 crew” just brought a new bundle of joy to our gang…meet baby Reggie!

Just a couple of weeks ago, I traveled to Cinci with the gang to photograph Peter and Vikki’s wedding. We ended up making a whole weekend out of the event complete with, old friends, slumber parties and IKEA! The wedding was great and was made even better by our whole gang being there to celebrate with the newlyweds. I was afraid that since I would be busy shooting, i wasn’t going to be able to join in on the fun as much. However, my best good friend Joey took over the lens a few times for me so I could do the electric slide :) . We danced our little behinds off at the reception and left to the always classic Minus the Bear playing in the background.
