Joe and David.
These two brighten my day. Always.

Night after night after night after night, we set up in dark alleyways of Brooklyn to create our first ever stop motion video for MRI Lightpainting. Commissioned by Jive artist Jawan Harris, we finally completed our music video for his new song “Another Planet”. Featured yesterday on the homepage of Myspace and now living on the Vevo website, check out our creation!

Just back from San Fran for an MRI Lightpainting shoot for Intuit and some sight-seeing. It was a short trip, landing us there and departing all within 72 hours, but well worth it.
Our shoot was one of our best Photobooths to date. You can see our success here and check out some of the photos of the Intuit Convention at the Regency in SF. The guests were a blast, and there was even a snake handler!
And just how I mentioned that I’ve been gone all but about 3 weekends this summer, as we go into Fall I’m finding myself booked up for weekend shoots as well. I love it. I’ll be flying to Richmond, VA next weekend to shoot Janna and Greg’s wedding which sounds like it is going to be beautiful complete with cowgirl boots and vineyards. Following that weekend, MRI will be doing another Photobooth for Gawker this time, on a rooftop here in Manhattan.
And as for San Fran, I hope to see you again, soon.

Today was refreshing, and rainy.
Summer is coming to an end quickly in New York City. Hoodies and boots have been drag out of the back of my closet and I’m finding myself craving to go camping. After being gone pretty much the entire summer, you’d think I’d have had my fix of being out of the city, but there is something about a crisp breeze that brings excitement to me. I leave next week for a couple days of shooting in San Fran…where boots and hoodies are going to be welcomed. I suspect that by the time I get back and settled in city, autumn will be just around the corner, and I can’t wait for the change.
But one last hoorah for the summer….an amazing summer of traveling and friends…the only things I need.

Last Saturday, in the quaint West Village, I walked around with Claire and Dennis, my upcoming wedding couple, and did some engagement shots. We visited the new High Line and talked about their upcoming wedding day in October which is going to be in a beautiful Manhattan loft.

Ahhhhh! So much has happened since July I’ve just been too swamped to update! The summer flew by and I can’t believe it’s really already October! However, I am happy to pull out my hoodies and welcome the cool air.
So, last post I informed everyone that my website was down and under construction. Luckily, the site is back up and running, however not complete yet. Check it out anyways though:
I’ve been shooting like crazy, traveling, and moving into a new apartment! First thing’s first though…photos! About a month ago, I met the talented Yves (beat maker) and did a photoshoot with him. Other than melting outside under the sun on one of the hottest days in BK, we managed to get some great shots! He was a blast to work with as well a trooper for toughin’ it out in the heat…

On another hot summer night, MRI got together (Me+partner Ryan) and did a MRI Lightpainting PhotoBooth for a friend of a friend, Natalie’s Birthday party! Everyone at the party was super fun and loved the photobooth. My favorite shot of the night though, of course, included the little cat, Kevin!

And of course the bday girl Natalie! (center)

I also got to hang out and photograph the coolest and most laid back couple, Michele and Chris. We did their engagement photos in Hoboken one afternoon over looking Manhattan. Then they were so kind and treated me to some drinks while we talked about their upcoming Wedding….which was amazing….but the engagement shots first:

Now their wedding was to take place on a beach in Long Branch….however, it was down pouring the entire day. Props to Michele for being in good spirits the whole time, which is why I think it ultimately stopped raining just in time for their ceremony and held off the entire reception! It was really pretty amazing for as soon as the last guest left, it began to down pour again. Funny how those things sorta work out. Their wedding was one of the most fun and beautiful ones I’ve seen in quite some time. Michele did a great job with little details like starfish for table placers, a bonfire with s’mores and their very own fire works!

Like I was saying, I’ve been swamped with moving into my new apartment, which I absolutely love, and getting ready for another wedding coming up, as well as my favorite holiday HALLOWEEN! Stay tuned for more photos!

ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION!!!!!
THE MKM-PHOTO.COM WEBSITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST!!!!!
I’m taking some time and pulled my website down to completely re-vamp it all from start to finish with new projects and new sections like EVENTS, LIFESTYLE and a whole section dedicated just to my baby, MRI Lightpainting. It’s going to be great! I’ve been up for some jobs (thank you my beautiful friends!) and it’s really got me motivated to get my projects together. I have a lot of exciting projects coming up in the next month or so and I will be working with some great stylists and re-touchers. In the meantime, refer here for updates on what I’m currently shooting!
Tomorrow I leave for a 10 day trip through the rivers of Wisconsin and the lakes of Minnesota! I hope to get some great life style shots while a whole gang of us spend three days canoeing. I also recentlly purchased this ridiculous looking hoss:

Although quite HUGE and ugly, it’s replaced my now sadly futile Polaroid camera, and who doesn’t love instant polaroids! I will be lugging it around with me the whole trip. I’m psyched to see what I come up with!
That’s all for now!

It’s mid-June in New York City although it feels like October.
My summer so far has been non-stop packed with people staying with me…going on three weeks of having someone constantly in my living room on my couch. Last night was finally the last night. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s been wonderful having friends visit and kick it with me…just exhausting. I woke up this morning and walked out of my bedroom to…no one…it was quite disorienting. I didn’t have to tip toe around, although I still did and I got to keep the bathroom door open while blow drying my hair. I think it’s going to be a weird adjustment getting used to not having people around everyday. I sort of don’t know what to do with myself.
I’ve been shooting a lot lately. Shot some promo shots for a new play that a friend of a friend is producing and shot Josh RItter and the NY Pops at the Summer Stage in Central Park last Friday. I decided this would be a “live journal” post though..I’ll put up my “work” photos later.
It’s been birthday galore the past month as well. Almost every weekend I’ve celebrated with my pals a bday or two. I’ve also started drinking whiskey a little bit…yeeps…this is a huge step for me since the only time I’ve ever been able to stomach it was while sitting on a bar stool at Union Pool a year ago with a bloody nose. Speaking of Union Pool, and the all-wonderful Brooklyn…I’ve decided I’m moving back. Queens has done me good…but Brooklyn does it better. :) My lease is up in September, only three months away and I’m really looking forward to a new place with no complaining tenants and no roaches. A new start is due…ha. I’ve gotten pretty used to having “new starts” annually.
Back to birthdays…I wish it was everyone’s bday, everyday….

I’ll end with…I’m eating a pb&j…with the crust cut off…just like the good ole’ days.

The weather in New York City has been teasing me…getting hot one day and then cold the next. That seems to be the way my life has been going lately….hot then cold. You know that tingly feeling you get when you are washing your hands in warmer water and then it suddenly changes to freezing…that shock? Or when it’s beautiful and hot out and the water looks so inviting, until you get in, and it’s freezing.
That’s it. That’s what this feels like.

I don’t even know where to begin! May has been the craziest month so far for me and it’s not even half way over! I’ve been shooting constantly and staying busy with learning new retouching tips from my co-shooters at the studio. I have so many photos to post on here to keep you guys up to date with all the places I’ve been! First though, I must express how utterly excited I am to celebrate my birthday in just a week and how happy I am that two of my favorite people from Louisville will be here in the city to celebrate with me! I have been saving a Betsy Johnson dress just for this occasion, so be sure to check back for the millions of photos I will take of myself actually haha…to show off my party dress.
In the meantime, let me start of saying I finally had time to re-touch the fabulous Furturistic Light Painting shots I did with Valissa Yoe a couple weeks back. Here are my favorites I wanted to share…

Last week I got asked by a friend of a friend to shoot their lingerie store opening, Pink Slip, in Grand Central Station. The party was a blast and I got some free lingerie out of the deal. Here are a couple shots from the party…

Two weekends ago I also shot the Stricola Gallery Opening again, this time the show was called Wild Things, and all about animals! And even better, it was all photographs of animals! It was a blast!

Some of my good friends (The Canon Logic) played a show the same night I shot the gallery opening so I snapped a couple live shots of them. They’re such a great time….

The Flashing Lights kids had another party this past weekend…a LOFT party at that in Brooklyn! MRI showed up and did our PhotoBooth again, and got some amazing shots like always! The most fun about shooting this party is seeing everyone’s expression when they see the result of the photo. It’s really hilarious. There was a great turn out this past week and everyone had such creative ideas (like puking ha)! You can also see them on our Flickr!

Whew! I think that catches me up to speed with what I’ve been shooting that past week or two. I’m stilllll working on getting my Holga shots back from Hawaii. I should have them together soon…I promise!
Now, it’s back to more shooting and planting an urban fire-escape garden this weekend! Yay!
