30 seconds of nothing
July 23, 2008My boy Ryan has been working on a very interesting project lately called 30 seconds of nothing. Ryan works as a content manager at Warner Music Group where, all day, everyday, he is bombarded with videos and photos and other internet “junk” that he is to handle and upload to music artists websites. In response to all the “everything” he had to add to websites, he decided to create a website of “nothing”.
30 seconds of nothing is a place to go and watch short 30 second videos of absolutely nothing and “take a nap on the internet” as Ryan says. So give it a lookover, relax, and spend some time away from all the noise and flashing lights and do nothing.

“If I could think of a way to do it right now, I’d head back to Louisville, sit on the porch drinking beer, drive around Cherokee Park for a few nights, and try to sink back as far as I could into the world that did its best to make me. It’s not hard to get tired of interminable palms and poinciana, and I could do at the moment with a single elm tree on a midnight street in the Highlands.”- Hunter S. Thompson

giving up on on greener grasses
July 21, 2008I went out and shot in the rain and dark last night. I thought this would be fitting for today.
I have had the song Giving Up on repeat all morning. I love the lyrics and right now, I am loving Ingrid Michaelson..
Giving Up
What if we stop having a ball?
What if the paint chips from the wall?
What if there’s always cups in the sink?
What if I’m not what you think I am?
What if I fall further than you?
What if you dream of somebody new?
What if I never let you win, chase you with a rolling pin?
Well what if I do?
I am giving up on making passes and
I am giving up on half empty glassess and
I am giving up on greener grasses.
I am giving up.
What if our baby comes home after nine?
What it your eyes close before mine?
What if you lose yourself sometimes? Then I’ll be the one to find you
Safe in my heart.
I am giving up on making passes and
I am giving up on half empty glassess and
I am giving up on greener grasses.
I am giving up.
I am giving up.
I am giving up.
I am giving up on greener grasses.
I am giving up for you.
I am giving up for you.
I am giving up.

the human problem
July 21, 2008Saw these guys, The Human Problem, the other day at The Delancy, in the lower east side.
Ryan, the singer, a friend of my boy Ryan, brought free pizza for everyone…that was a huge plus. I snapped a few shots but the basement part of The Delancy, where the shows are held, is pretty dark. I had a tough time shooting and am still trying to figure out new ways of shooting in incredibly low light…

the canon logic
July 20, 2008About a year ago, my pal Amanda introduced me to an amazing dancey-feel-great band The Canon Logic. Since then, we have gone on to become good friends with the lovely fellas who reside in WIlliamsburg Brooklyn. And just the other night, I went to hang and shoot some photos of them at the Williamsburg Fair.If you haven’t heard them already, give these guys a chance!

tara and matt
July 17, 2008One of my most favorite parts of shooting a wedding is the cake…and let me say…my hat goes off to Tara and Matt for their delicious brownie cake!!!
Tara and Matt got married at Shively Baptist in Louisville, KY just a few weeks ago. Not only did they have a cake that was just as beautiful as delicious, Tara picked out the most gorgeous flowers! That is my second favorite part about shooting a wedding…the flowers!! Gerber daisies have always been my number one and Tara mixed those with big yellow sun flowers! I loved them so much, I had to call the boy in my life and describe them to him half way through the wedding day. And he was lovely enough to show up with sunflowers for me the next day….awwwww!
Anyways, Tara and Matt’s wedding was full of little unique touches including a special and, might I add, hilarious, dance by them on their entrance into the reception! They were such a fun couple to be around…so much that I decided to show up and see them off the next morning for their honeymoon at the airport! Hah, no, I’m not that crazy about my couples, but I did in fact, sit down right next to Tara and Matt the next morning while about to board my plane to NYC. It was so random but too funny and I got to show them a sneak preview of some of their wedding photos.

have i found you flightless bird…
July 16, 2008If you haven’t heard them already, get yourself some Iron and Wine.
Seriously.
Any album will do. I am particularly loving
Check it out and tell me what you think.

“fashion” shoot at five pointz nyc
July 14, 2008This weekend I did a photoshoot with up and coming hip hop artist “Fashion”. After taking just one look at her myspace page, I knew exactly what kind of shoot I wanted to do. Instead of shooting in the sometimes limiting studio, I decided to take her, along with crew of stylist, make-up artist, and manager, to Five Pointz in Queens. I have yet to give all the files to her manager but here are a few that I tweaked a bit and wanted to share.
